The City of Pembroke is excited to announce a new approach to this year’s Community Cleanup initiative.
The Beautification, Climate Action Committee is shifting gears from the traditional one-day cleanup to a week-long initiative from April 20-26.
This year, the focus is on merging Earth Day celebrations with community clean-up efforts.
To encourage community clean up in your neighborhood or preferred city location, the committee is preparing 100 Community Cleanup kits for interested individuals. Each kit will include essential items such as a t-shirt, gloves and instructions, along with a black garbage bag that can be disposed of during regular garbage collection days.
Additionally, the first 40 registrants will receive a trash picking tool sponsored by Deputy Mayor Abdallah and Councillor Jacyno.
Participants are required to register and document their cleanup activities by taking a photo and sending it to recreation@pembroke.ca between April 20 and 26 for a chance to win the grand prize.
The grand prize includes a rain barrel, donated by Mayor Gervais and Deputy Mayor Abdallah, a 12-pack of leaf and yard wash paper bags, a set of Fiskars shears and a mesh cover for yellow/blue bins.
Residents can register and pick up their Community Cleanup kits at the City of Pembroke Parks and Recreation office, located at the Pembroke Memorial Centre or the Pembroke Public Library between April 15 and 19.
