Upper Pontiac Sports Complex, 52 Chemin Pembroke in Chapeau, Que
Being held in memory of eight-year-old Kendyl Smith-Trimm, who passed away in August 2023 after a year-and-a-half-long battle with osteosarcoma, the same type of bone cancer that claimed the life of Canadian hero Terry Fox. Despite her illness, Kendyl remained focused on others.
Proceeds will support families facing the financial strain of pediatric cancer treatment, helping cover expenses such as transportation, lodging, and meals. Funds will also go toward gifts for children undergoing treatment, as well as CHEO’s Child Life Program, which was a source of comfort to Kendyl through play therapy, art, and education.
This year’s event includes guest speaker Jolan Wong, a childhood cancer survivor and Paralympian, a magic show by Steven Anthony, live music from local bands Rewd and Midlife Krisis, a late lunch, 50/50 draw, raffles and door prizes.
Tickets are $25 per person and can be reserved by calling or texting 613-633-7634 (Sandra) or 613-602-2140 (Cheryl). Donations can also be made directly to the Kendyl Smith-Trimm Caring for Kids Endowment Fund through the CHEO Foundation’s website.
